I’m Dalton Hyde, a Level Designer driven by a simple belief: gameplay brings people together, and great spaces should do more than just function—they should guide, challenge, enchant, and captivate players.
I’ve spent my career crafting immersive worlds and high-impact gameplay spaces, contributing to titles like Borderlands 4 at Gearbox and building alongside teams at Combat Waffle Studios. For me, level design is where systemic mechanics and environmental storytelling merge to create unforgettable journeys. With a deeply nurturing design philosophy, my focus is always on the player's emotional arc—ensuring they feel oriented, empowered, and completely immersed in the world around them. Whether I’m blocking out high-stakes combat arenas or pacing a subtle narrative beat, I treat every space as an opportunity to spark wonder.
When I’m not deep in a development build, you can usually find me living life with that same sense of adventure. I’ve been riding horses for over 19 years, focusing on eventing and dressage—and carrying forward the lifelong lessons and incredible bond I shared with my late Clydesdale, Hercules. If I'm not in the saddle, there's a good chance I'm underwater or enjoying the beach; living in Florida has made scuba diving (and exploring with my Nitrox certification) a massive part of how I appreciate the scale, atmosphere, and mystery of the world around me. I believe those real-world adventures—the rhythm of riding, the sheer scale and silence of the deep ocean—fundamentally shape how I build spaces that resonate on a human level.
Games bring people together. If you are looking for a high-quality Level Designer to inspire players, add light to the workplace, and creatively collaborate to solve any problem, look no further; it's nice to meet you! :)
